Volunteer Opportunities!
BRITE Collaborative welcomes people to explore multiple ways of volunteering to support restorative justice and practices. We notice that with time to build relationships, we are able to more intentionally recruit people from diverse backgrounds whose voices are sometimes underrepresented in our volunteer pool. Male-identified, LGBTQIA+, people of color, people experiencing poverty, Latinx, and other identities and life experiences are all warmly welcome here!

Committed volunteers become facilitators by learning and practicing how to lead a restorative justice conference. Facilitators empower those affected by and responsible for crime and harm.
The opportunities include working with referrals from municipals courts, schools and other communities navigating conflict.
YOU can volunteer with us to make this revolutionary justice process available throughout Longmont and Boulder County!
Responsibilities:
Lead a restorative justice conference according to BRITE CO models and training.
Commitment:
Consistent availability to support conferences. Conferences primarily occur on weekday afternoons and evenings, as well as occasional Saturday mornings.
Regularly attend additional training opportunities through BRITE CO to continue improving your skills.

2-Hour Restorative Practices Orientation
2-Hour Community Member Training
16-Hour Restorative Justice Facilitator Training
Ongoing Coaching and Education through BRITE CO's Coaching and Mentoring Program

Community Members are essential in restorative justice. Speaking from personal perspective to identify how the broader community is affected by crime, BRITE CO’s community members ensure that the reparative agreements in the Responsible Person’s contract are fair to the participants and the community. They do this by listening to the harmed and responsible persons, giving input on how the community was harmed, and working together with the harmed and responsible persons to create the restorative justice contract.
Responsibilities:
Participate in a restorative justice conference as a community member.
Commitment:
Consistent availability to support conferences. Usually in afternoons and/or evenings.
Regularly attend ongoing training opportunities.
Training:
2-Hour Restorative Practices Orientation
2-Hour Community member Training
Ongoing Support from BRITE CO’s Staff and Facilitators

BRITE CO staff and volunteers educate the community about restorative justice at a wide range of community outreach events each month. Examples of annually recurring events include Longmont’s Cinco de Mayo Festival and Front Range Community College Volunteerism & Career Fairs. In addition, BRITE CO hosts parties and social events for volunteers, community stakeholders, donors, and the public throughout the year. Volunteers play an integral role in the success of these fun and lively events, including the annual Volunteer Appreciation Party, Fundraising events and more!
Responsibilities:
Working with BRITE CO's development team to plan and execute logistics for these events. This may include set-up and clean-up, speaking with the public about BRITE CO promoting events, and seeking In-Kind donations or sponsorships.
Commitment:
Ongoing and Scheduled on an “As Needed” Basis
Skills you Bring:
Enthusiasm for event planning, meeting new people, and informing others about Restorative Justice

Behind the scenes, volunteers support BRITE CO with a vast array of administrative projects that keep the organization thriving. Whether you have a specialized talent from years of working in an office, or are simply looking for a more routine way to support BRITE CO during daytime hours, BRITE CO can match you with a way to help in our welcoming Main Street Office. Administrative Support Volunteers are carefully matched with responsibilities after meeting with BRITE CO team.
Responsibilities:
Working with the BRITE CO team on various administrative tasks including assembling training materials, preparing mailings, data entry, season office decoration, calling other volunteers to notify them of program updates, and more!
Commitment:
Availability to support BRITE CO on an as needed or recurring basis.

1:1 consultations with BRITE CO staff

BRITE Collaborative welcomes volunteers with many different backgrounds and lived experiences, including those who may or may not have official documentation of their immigration status and/or those who have been involved in the criminal justice system. We believe that our community benefits from the wisdom and learnings from those in our community who may have needed a second chance and we would love to have you as a part of it.
The inability to complete a successful background check or a background check with no criminal history, does not necessarily preclude you from volunteering. At the discretion of BRITE CO staff, we can work with individuals to establish credibility and fittedness to volunteer in other ways.
